Privacy
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies, so there is nothing on it that tracks you. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us.
This website
The pages are plain files. The only code that runs in your browser is a few lines on the contact page that note how long the form has been open, to help us tell people from automated spam; it stores nothing on your device and sends nothing but that number with your message. We do not use cookies or similar technologies, we do not run analytics or advertising tools, and we do not load fonts, images or code from other companies. There is therefore no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
This website is hosted on Azure Static Web Apps, a service of Microsoft, in its East US 2 region in the United States. Like any web host, Microsoft may keep standard server logs, which record the address of the visitor, the time and the page requested, for security and to keep the site running. These logs may therefore be processed in the United States, which is outside the UK; under the UK GDPR that is an overseas transfer. We do not use the logs to identify you.
If you contact us
If you email us at enquiry@apexfactory.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use them to reply to you and to follow up the conversation, and for nothing else. We do not sell your details or pass them to anyone to market to you.
We keep an enquiry for as long as the conversation continues and for a reasonable time afterwards, and delete it when you ask us to.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your message and, if you give it, your telephone number. We use them in the same way as an email: to reply to you and to follow up the conversation, and for nothing else.
The form sends your enquiry to a small program that runs on Microsoft Azure in the East US 2 region in the United States, which processes it and hands it to Azure Communication Services to be sent to us as an email. Because that program runs in the United States, which is outside the UK, this is an overseas transfer under the UK GDPR.
Azure Communication Services is set up with its data location in the UK, so the data of an enquiry is stored at rest in the UK while the service handles it. The enquiry then reaches our mailbox, where we keep it as described above. The program records only a result code, such as whether the message was sent, and never what you wrote.
Why we may use it, and who handles it
Our lawful basis for handling an enquiry, whether it arrives by email or through the form, is our legitimate interests in answering the people who contact us about our products and services. We use the details only to reply, and we do not use them for marketing.
Microsoft Corporation acts as our processor for the contact form: it runs the Azure Function that receives the form and Azure Communication Services, which sends the enquiry to us as an email, and it processes your details only on our instructions.
The enquiry is processed in the East US 2 region in the United States and stored at rest in the United Kingdom. Transfers to the United States rely on the safeguards Microsoft provides under UK data protection law.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
